A heartless vandal has been charged with defacing a World War I memorial monument on the NSW Mid North Coast.
Around 1.45pm on Thursday, a security guard phoned police after noticing a man drawing symbols and words on the monument at Port Macquarie.
Officers arrived a short time later and arrested a 47-year-old man.

He was charged with wilfully damage/deface protected place and is due to face Port Macquarie Local Court on Wednesday 12 April.
