Man charged after violent brawl erupts at Sydney restaurant

A man has been charged after a violent brawl erupted inside a Sydney restaurant overnight.

Police said that around 11.30pm, a 54-year-old man became involved in a verbal argument with a 34-year-old man at the restaurant on Pitt Street.

During the argument, the 54-year-old allegedly became violent and struck the younger man leaving him with scratches to his neck and a cut to his head.

The injured man was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for treatment to his wounds while the the older man was arrested at the scene and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, affray and possessing a dangerous implement .

A broken glass jug was seized from the restaurant for forensic examination.
