Man charged with allegedly knowingly infecting woman with HIV

A MAN has been charged with a number of offences including bestiality and knowingly infecting a woman with a communicable disease.

The 53-year-old was arrested at a business in Rozelle on Thursday after officers received a report from a woman alleging that a man had knowingly infected her with a communicable disease, medically known as HIV.

During a search of the man’s backpack, officers also allegedly located a liquid, believed to be prohibited drugs, and ammunition.


He was taken to Newtown Police Station where he was charged with cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent, bestiality and possess ammunition without holding licence or permit.

The man was refused bail to appear before Newtown Local Court today.
