Man charged with attempted murder after couple shot in their home

A MAN has been charged with two counts of attempted murder after allegedly shooting a couple in their home in Sydney’s west.

Police were called to a home on Kidd Close at Bidwell, at about 7.30pm on Tuesday after receiving reports of gunshots.

Officers arrived to find a 47-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman inside the home with gunshot wounds.

The couple were treated by paramedics at the scene before being rushed to Westmead Hospital.

Police say the couple remain in hospital this morning, in a serious but stable condition.

Their Kidd Close home was declared a crime scene and examined by forensic police while officers searched surrounding streets for the gunman.

A short time after the shooting, a 23-year-old man was arrested on Idriess Circuit at Blackett.

He was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station where he was charged with four offences, including two counts of shoot with intent to murder, and assault and resist police.

The man was refused bail and expected to appear in Mt Druitt Local Court today.
