Man charged with attempted murder over double stabbing

A MAN will appear in court today, charged with attempted murder after allegedly breaking into a home and stabbing two people in a frenzied attack on the Gold Coast.

The 24-year-old man from Clayfield allegedly forced his way inside a house on Kalabri Court at Worongary about 7am on Wednesday and stabbed two people before fleeing.

The victims, a 23-year-old woman and a 55-year-old man, were treated by paramedics at the scene before being rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital with serious injuries. Their current condition is not known.

The 24-year-old man accused of the attack was tracked down and arrested at Beechmont, 30km away, a short time after the attack.

In a statement last night, police confirmed the Clayfield man is known to the victims, who both live in Worongary.

The 24-year-old will appear in Southport Magistrates Court this morning, charged with one count each of attempted murder, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, common assault and enter dwelling with intent.
