Man charged with murder after body found in unit

A MAN will appear in a Sydney court today, charged with murdering another man in the city’s west.

The 41-year-old victim’s body was found in a unit at Villawood yesterday afternoon.

Police said they were called to reports of an assault at the Gundaroo Street address around 5.30pm.


Emergency services arrived to find the victim deceased inside the property.

A 31-year-old man who was known but not relate to the victim was arrested in a nearby street.

It’s understood he needed to be sedated upon his arrest and was taken to hospital under police guard.

After being released from hospital, he was taken to Bankstown Police Station for questioning.

He has since been charged with murder and two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The 31-year-old was remanded in custody overnight and was due to front Bankstown Local Court today.
