“When officers attempted to assist the woman, a male senior constable suffered burns to his hand while trying to extinguish the blaze,” NSW Police said.

Despite desperate attempts by police and paramedics, the woman sadly could not be saved and died at the scene.

A 31-year-old man, who police say is known to the woman, was arrested at the home and taken to Deniliquin Police Station where he was charged with murder (DV).

He was refused bail to appear in court today.

A crime scene has been established at the home as investigations into the woman’s death continue.
