Man charged with raping young girl at NSW home

A man has been charged with sexually assaulting a girl at a home in the Illawarra.

In early 2015, police were informed about the historical sexual assault of the girl.

She was allegedly sexually assaulted by a 19-year-old man on two separate occasions throughout 2000.

The girl’s age at the time of the rapes has not been disclosed, to protect her identity.

Both the girl and the man were members of the same Greek Orthodox church congregation.

Detectives conducted an investigation into the matter and last Thursday, 29 October 2015, they arrested a 35-year-old man.

He was charged with two counts of sexual intercourse with a child and granted strict conditional bail to appear in court on 9 December 2015.
