Man charged with robbing Southport business at gunpoint

UPDATE @ May 31: A MAN has been charged after allegedly robbing a phone store at Southport while armed with a gun.

Police said the man walked into the Scarborough Street business around 5.30pm on Monday and waited for customers to leave the store.

He then approached two staff-members at the front counter and pulled out a gun, demanding cash.

An employee complied, before the man took off from the store.

Following investigations, police arrested and charged a 34-year-old man from Guanaba with armed robbery and enter premises with intent to commit an indictable offence.

He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court today.
