Man charged with Southport murder

Police have charged a man with murder, following an investigation into a sudden death this week.

Officers were called to a Whitby Street address, responding to the death of a 40-year-old Southport man on Wednesday.

At first, officers didn’t think the death was suspicious but did launch an investigation.

It’s understood both men were known to each other.

The 49-year-old is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on Monday.

He’s been charged with one count each of murder and unlawful possession of a dangerous drug.
