Emergency crews were called to a property in the Logan suburb of Boronia Heights shortly after 11:30pm on Sunday night to find a 23-year-old Southport woman with stab wounds to her chest.

Attempts by Ambulance crews to revive the woman were unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead at the Victor St address just before midnight.

Multiple news reports allege the young woman was stabbed in the heart by her 49-year-old step father.

He and another 41-year-old woman, believed to be the victim’s mother, were assisting police with their investigation.

Forensic officers are wrapping up their investigations at the crime scene.

The 49-year-old man charged with the woman’s murder will appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Police confirmed the accused was known to the victim, however would not comment on whether he was the woman’s step father.
