Gold Coast man accused of stealing ‘Apple’ products during organised meet-ups

A Gold Coast man has been charged over a string of robbery and stealing incidents across the Gold Coast over the past two months.

The 26-year-old was taken into custody at a home in Main Beach on Monday following an ongoing investigation.

He was charged with 12 counts of stealing from a person, four counts of robbery and a number of fraud and drug related offences.

Police allege the man would contact sellers of ‘Apple’ products via online marketplaces and facilitate a face to face exchange.

Upon meeting the sellers, the man would then allegedly snatch the items before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.

Detective Inspector Brendan Smith said police are now appealing for any other potential victims to come forward.

He also issued a warning to anyone using online marketplaces to sell goods.

“We encourage sellers to be vigilant when meeting with potential buyers by looking into previous reviews and feedback,” he said.

“We also encourage any exchanges be conducted a safe public environment.”
