Woman almost stabbed to death in attack west of Brisbane

A MAN has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly trying to stab a woman to death at a home west of Brisbane.

Police and paramedics were called to reports of a disturbance at a house on Dwyer Street in Gatton around 1.35pm on Saturday.

They arrived to find a 29-year-old woman with several stab wounds to her torso and back.


The injured woman was transported to hospital in a serious condition, police said.

A 57-year-old man was arrested at the scene and charged with attempted murder and assault occasioning bodily harm.

He’s been remanded in custody and will appear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Monday.

It is believed the man and woman are known to each other.
