Man chased down, bashed and robbed in unprovoked attack

A YOUNG man has been chased down, bashed and robbed in a shocking unprovoked attack while walking home from a night out in Tweed Heads.

The 21-year-old was bailed up by two unknown men on Kennedy Drive in Tweed Heads West shortly before 2am.

Police said the two men demanded the man’s mobile phone and wallet, before chasing him down the street.


After catching up with their victim, the pair allegedly bashed him before taking his phone and running off.

The 21-year-old sustained multiple cuts to his head and hand and needed to be taken to hospital for treatment.

He was tended to by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Tweed Heads Hospital in a stable condition.

The young man’s attackers remain at large, last seen running north along Sugarwood Drive, towards the M1.

The first man is described as being Caucasian and aged between 19 and 20. He was wearing a black jumper at the time.

The second man is also described as Caucasian and aged between 19 and 20, with short black hair. He was wearing a red jumper.

As investigations continue, anyone with information or who was in the area at the time of the incident, is urged to come forward.
