Man attacked with hammer after intruder cuts power to home

A MAN has been clobbered over the head with a hammer in a terrifying attack outside his home in Brisbane.

Police said the homeowner was set upon after stepping out of his Japonica Street home at Inala around 11.30pm last night.

It’s alleged the man’s attacker had cut the power to the property in a bid to lure the victim out of the house.

“When the male occupant of the dwelling went outside to investigate, the man assaulted the occupant by hitting him on the head with a hammer,” police said in a statement.

The armed man then fled the scene with a stash of personal items he’d allegedly stolen from the house.

The homeowner was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment of head injuries.

Police are appealing for information from the public to help find his attacker who remains at large.
