A MAN is in a critical condition after being struck by lightning at a beach on the NSW north coast this morning.
The man, believed to be in his 30, was reportedly surfing with friends at Suffolk Park, just south of Byron Bay, when he was struck around 10.30am AEDT.

He has been rushed to Tweed Hospital in a critical condition.
The severe thunderstorm which spat out the lightning bolt is tracking north towards the Queensland border.
