Man critical after near drowning in Gold Coast pool

A man is fighting for life after a near drowning on the northern Gold Coast.

Paramedics were called to a home in Ormeau around 8.30am on Sunday morning.

The man is understood to have been pulled from a backyard pool.


Queensland Ambulance says the man was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

The latest incident follows a spate of drownings on the Gold Coast.

A man and a woman died after going for a late night swim at Kurrawa Beach on Thursday night.

A man in his 30s drowned after going for a swim at Mermaid Beach on Saturday morning.

Two women in their 20s were rushed to hospital after getting into trouble at Main Beach on Saturday afternoon.

The majority of Gold Coast beaches north of Burleigh Heads remain closed due to dangerous conditions.
