Man critical after falling from Coolangatta balcony

A man is fighting for life this morning after he fell from a balcony in Coolangatta overnight.

The Queensland Ambulance Service says they were called to a residence on Musgrave Street just after midnight.

It’s believed the man was trying to catch an object that was being thrown to him when he fell over the balcony railing, landing on the ground below.

On arrival, paramedics found a man in his 30s with serious head and chest injuries.

He was transported in a critical condition to the Gold Coast University Hospital by Critical Care Paramedics and the High Acuity Response Unit.

He has been placed in an induced coma due to the significance of his head injury.
