Man critical after being hit by car in NSW

A MAN has been rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being run over by a car in Sydney’s east.

The 68-year-old was struck at the intersection of Maitland Avenue and Gardners Road at Kingsford around 3pm.

Paramedics tried desperately to stabilise the man at the scene before he could be taken to hospital.

He was rushed by ambulance to St Vincent’s Hospital in a critical condition.

The teenage boy behind the wheel of the Honda sedan that struck the man was uninjured.

The 17-year-old was cleared of drink driving at the scene before being taken to Prince of Wales Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

Inquiries into the events leading up to the crash are still continuing.
