Man critically hurt in horror hinterland crash

A MAN has suffered critical injuries after crashing his motorcycle down an embankment in the Gold Coast hinterland.

Police say the man was riding through Numinbah Valley on Sunday afternoon when he lost control of his motorcycle after failing to negotiate a bend on Pine Creek Road shortly before 4pm.

The 18-year-old male rider was critically injured after his bike careered onto the wrong side of the road, down an embankment and side swiped a tree.

He was reportedly given a blood transfusion and placed in an induced coma at the scene before being airlifted to the Gold Coast University Hospital.

Investigations into the cause of the accident are continuing.
