Man crushed to death by runaway car in freak accident

A YOUNG man has tragically died after being crushed against a wall by a runaway car on Sydney’s Upper North Shore.

The freak accident happened on a quite suburban cul de sac at Hornsby Heights about 8pm on Friday.

Police said the 18-year-old was attempting to stop the car from rolling down a hill when it pinned him against a wall.

Emergency services arrived at the scene on Paul Close to find the man trapped between the vehicle and the wall.

He was released a short time later but despite the best efforts of rescuers to save him, the man’s injuries were too severe and he died at the scene.

Police established a crime scene which was examined overnight by forensic officers.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are continuing.
