Man crushed by falling tree on South Stradbroke Island
A MAN has been airlifted to hospital after being crushed by a falling tree on South Stradbroke Island.
The man, believed to be aged in his 60s, was struck by the large tree shortly before 3pm on Thursday.
A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said the man sustained abdominal and pelvic injuries.
A rescue helicopter was dispatched to the island where the injured man spent more than an hour being assessed and stabilised by a team of paramedics.
He has since been airlifted to the Princess Alexendra Hospital in Brisbane for treatment.
