Man crushed by granite slabs in horror industrial accident

UPDATE @ 1.45pm: A stonemason working hard to close up shop for a well earned Christmas break has been killed by falling slabs of Granite at his factory in Brisbane’s bayside.

The tragic accident occurred on Shore Street West at Cleveland just before 10.00am.

Police said the 61-year-old was unloading the slabs from a truck when they toppled and fell, crushing him underneath.

Multiple emergency crews raced to the scene, however the man could not be revived.

A Workplace Health and Safety investigation is underway.

EARLIER @ 11.25am: Workplace Health and Safety has confirmed a man has died after being crushed by slabs of granite on Brisbane’s bayside.

The tragic accident occurred at an industrial site on Shore Street West at Cleveland just before 10.00am.

Multiple emergency crews including police and paramedics are currently on scene, with Workplace Health and Safety investigators also en-route.

There are no further details available at this time.

EARLIER @ 11.00am: A man has reportedly been crushed by slabs of granite on Brisbane’s bayside.

The accident occurred at an industrial site on Shore Street at Cleveland just before 10.00am.

Multiple emergency crews including police and paramedics are currently on scene.

The man is believed to be seriously injured.
