Man crushed between two cars in horror crash after stopping to help driver

A MAN has suffered horrific leg injuries after being crushed between two cars in a horror crash near Sydney.

The freak accident occurred at Cordeaux, northeast of Wollongong, around 10 o’clock on Friday night.

The 25-year-old was driving along Picton Road when he stopped to assist the driver of a Holden Commodore.


A short time later, a Hyundai Elantra smashed into the back of the stationary sedan, causing it to lurch forward and pin the 25-year-old up against his own Isuzu Dmax, crushing his legs.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene before being rushed to Liverpool Hospital for surgery.

Although the young man’s injuries are serious, they are not considered life-threatening.

Officers from the Wollongong Local Area Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The 27-year-old man behind the wheel of the Hyundai was transported to Wollongong Hospital where he underwent mandatory drug and alcohol testing.
