Man dead after ‘altercation’ outside football club

A crime scene has been set up at a football club just south of Brisbane, following the ‘suspicious death’ of a man aged in his 30s.

Police say they were called to the Rocklea venue just after 9pm on Friday to find the man with a neck injury.

“(He) was declared deceased at the scene,” Police said in a statement.

It’s believed the man had been drinking at the Brothers St Brendan’s Football Club on Beaudesert Road, when he became involved in a fight with a man he knows.

It carried out into the street, where the man was attacked, and reportedly stabbed in the neck.

“A second man also aged in his 30s was located nearby on Blackwood Street.

“He was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment to hand, face and shoulder injuries.”

Detectives are investigating the death and hope anyone with information will come forward.
