Man dead, son critical after crane collapses in Brisbane

A father is dead and his teenage son is fighting for life after a crane collapsed while the pair were taking professional photos of a Brisbane construction site at the bustling Gasworks precinct.

The man, 41, and the 17-year-old teen were in the bucket of the crane photographing the site on Longland Street, Newstead, when the accident happened just after 7pm last night.

It is believed that the boom of the crane was fully extended when the crane toppled over.
