Man dies after boat capsizes in far north NSW

A man has died after a boat capsized on the New South Wales’ far north coast on Thursday morning.

Emergency services were called to the Richmond River at East Wardell, south of Ballina, around 7.30am following reports a boat had capsized.

A man, believed to be aged in his 60s, was pulled from the river.


Despite attempts to resuscitate him, he could not be revived.

He has not been formally identified.

A 37-year-old man was also taken to Lismore Base Hospital for mandatory testing while investigations continue.
