Man dies after concrete water tank collapses, pins him to ground

A MAN has died after a water tank collapsed on a rural property north-west of Taree.

The 39-year-old man was demolishing a concrete water tank on his property at Butchers Creek Road, Wherrol Flat, 30km from Taree, about 5pm Wednesday 14 October 2015, when the roof of the tank collapsed, trapping him.

Family and neighbours rendered assistance and began CPR until NSW Ambulance Paramedics arrived.

The Westpac helicopter was called to attend but the man was unable to be revived and died at the scene.

Police from Manning Great Lakes Local Area Command have examined the scene and will prepare a report for the information of NSW Coroner.
