Man dies after boat overturns on fishing trip with son
A family fishing trip has turned to tragedy after a boat overturned in water off the Adelaide Coast yesterday.
Around 7.00pm last night, concerned family members alerted police after two men, aged 72 and 44 failed to return from a fishing trip.
An extensive search involving PolAir commenced and around 1.30am this morning, the men’s 5.5m boat was sighted overturned in the Gulf St Vincent.
Police said the 72-year-old mans body was retrieved from the water by Water Operations Police while his 44-year-old son was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for observation.
The boat has since been recovered and returned to shore at North Haven.
