The elderly man at the centre of a significant incident in Miami early yesterday morning has tragically died in hospital.
Police have confirmed that the 77-year-old passed away from injuries sustained in a horror incident along the Gold Coast Highway at Nobby Beach.
The man was found unconscious on the side of the road by a member of the public around 3.30 am.

He’d appeared to have suffered serious head, leg and pelvis injuries and was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.
It’s still not clear exactly what happened in the incident, with police investigations continuing this morning.
A 34-year-old Southport man was taken in for questioning yesterday but no charges have been laid just yet.
Forensic detectives are still calling for witnesses or dashcam footage from the area.
