A man has died after being catapulted from a motorcycle in a horror head-on crash on the NSW Far South Coast.

Police say the east-bound motorcycle collided head-on with a Toyota Hilux travelling west on Mt Darragh Road at Wyndham around 6.45pm on Wednesday.

The male motorcyclist was thrown from his bike and died at the scene.

The 68-year-old man behind the wheel of the Hilux stopped to render assistance before being taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

A crime scene was established and examined by specialist forensic officers.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner outlining the full circumstances surrounding the crash.

Investigators have urged anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward and contact police.
