Man dies in hospital after domestic shooting

A MAN has tragically died in hospital following a domestic-related shooting in the NSW Hunter region.

The man, 28, is believed to have shot himself in the head after shooting a 35-year-old man in the chest on a property off Bingleburra Road at Bingleburra on Mother’s Day.

Both men were treated at the scene before being airlifted to the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle.

Sadly, the younger man’s injuries were too severe and he could not saved.

In a statement late yesterday, NSW Police confirmed the 28-year-old passed away on Monday afternoon.

The older man remains in hospital in a stable condition, recovering from his injuries.

Officers from the Port Stephens-Hunter Police District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and will prepare a report for the Coroner.

The men are believed to be related, with police confirming the shooting was domestic-related.
