Man dies after Police pursuit for avoiding RBT

There will be a probe into a fatal car crash, following a police pursuit in Sydney’s west.

Officers took chase about 10.10pm on Saturday, after a vehicle failed to stop at a random breath testing site on the Great Western Highway at Lapstone.

In a statement released by Police, they explain the pursuit was terminated a short time later.

However, the vehicle left the road and crashed into a tree on the M4 at Leonay.

The driver, a 35-year-old man, was taken to Nepean Hospital but died from his injuries.

“A critical incident team will now investigate all circumstances surrounding the crash,” the Police statement reads.

“That investigation will be subject to independent review and all information will be provided to the Coroner.”
