Man dies shortly after being freed from car following single-vehicle crash

A MAN has tragically died, shortly after being rescued from his car following a single-vehicle crash in Sydney’s south.

Emergency services were called to reports a car had left Foreshore Road and crashed at Banksmeadow just before 1pm.

They arrived to find the 65-year-old driver trapped in the car.

The man was stuck in the vehicle for a short time before being freed by Police Rescue and stretchered into an ambulance.

He was treated by paramedics but sadly his condition worsened and he later died at Prince of Wales Hospital.

There are reports the man may have suffered a medical episode while behind the wheel.

The road where the crash occurred was declared a crime scene and examined by crash investigators.

Police are investigating what may have caused the vehicle to leave the road and will prepare a report for the Coroner.
