A man has tragically drowned at Surfers Paradise beach this long weekend, marking the first fatality for the 2021/22 patrol season.
The man, believed to be in his 50s, was found face down in the waters at Surfers Paradise by a surfer around 2.30 pm.
He was pulled from the water, where paramedics then began CPR efforts.

Paramedics were called to the scene as well, but despite desperate attempts, the man couldn’t be saved.
Queensland Ambulance Acting Inspector Will Houghton says it was a busy beach day.
“It was a tragic day, there were a lot of people on the beach today who witnessed what happened.
“But the first-aiders and the surf lifesavers did an absolutely fantastic job and gave him the best opportunity today,” Mr Houghton said.
Paramedics had not ruled out a medical episode being the cause of the fatality.
A report is being prepared for the coroner.
