Man drowns as his mate fights of crocs for 3 hours

A man has drowned and his mate has spent three terrifying hours trying to fight off crocodiles near Darwin, after their tinnie capsized.

The pair, who were on holiday from Victoria, had been pulling in crab pots on Monday morning when a crocodile shoved their small vessel causing it to flip.

A man, believed to be aged in his 50s, drowned while trying to paddle to shore.

While a 72-year-old man became stuck in the mud on the creek bank as a number of the reptiles approached.

He was able to reach into the boat and pull out a number of tools and other items, which he threw at the crocodiles, managing to survive for three hours until professional fishermen heard his cries for help.

They also managed to pull the body of his friend from the water, but he couldn’t be revived.
