Man drowns at popular camping spot in northern NSW

A MAN has drowned while swimming at a popular camping spot in northern New South Wales.

The 46-year-old was pulled unconscious from the water at the Kolora Lake Reserve at Yamba around 2pm.

Paramedics performed CPR on the man but he could not be revived. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The man is the twelfth person to drown in New South Wales over the Christmas-New Year period – the second today.

A 27-year-old Pakistani national died after he was pulled unconscious from the Mermaids Pool at Tahmoor, southwest of Sydney around 12:30pm.
