Man fatally shot by police in central-west NSW

A man is dead after being shot by police following a confrontation at a home near Bathurst on Wednesday night.

Police were called to the home on View Street, Kelso, at around 7.00pm after concerns were raised about the man inside.

It’s understood officers were confronted by the man when they arrived and he was shot.

Police tried to resuscitate the man but he died at the scene a short time later.

He is yet to be formerly identified.

A critical incident team from the Homicide Squad will now investigate all circumstances surrounding the incident.

That investigation will be subject to independent review and all information will be provided to the Coroner.

Police are expected to provide an update at 8.30am.
