Pair charged after man left fighting for life following Broadbeach assault

UPDATE @ December 1: Two men are due to face court tomorrow charged over the brutal assault of another man in Broadbeach.

The 21-year-old victim remains in the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition following the attack in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police say he was walking along Surf Parade when he became involved in an argument with a group of men and women around 2.40am.

The group allegedly continued to follow the man before an altercation occurred and the 21-year-old was punched, causing him to fall and hit his head on the ground.

Following investigations, police have since charged two 19-year-old men from NSW with affray.

The pair have been denied police bail and are due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Monday, December 2.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the fight, or have any relevant information, to contact them.

Investigations are continuing.

EARLIER @ November 30: A young man is fighting for his life after being assaulted in Broadbeach in the early hours of this morning.

Police say the 21-year-old was walking along Surf Parade when he became involved in an argument with a group of men and women around 2.40am.

The group allegedly continued to follow the man before an altercation occurred and the 21-year-old was punched, causing him to fall and hit his head on the ground.

The man was treated at the scene by paramedics for a life-threatening head injury before being rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

A crime scene has been established at the corner of Margaret Avenue and Surf Parade, with a number of people assisting police with inquiries.
