Man fights for life after being bludgeoned with pushbike handlebars in brutal attack

A MAN is fighting to stay alive in hospital this afternoon after being bashed with a set of metal handlebars in southern NSW.

The 44-year-old was allegedly bludgeoned at a house on Kywong Place in Kooringal, in the regional city of Wagga Wagga, around 9pm on Saturday.

The attack was so brutal, the victim was rushed to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital in a critical condition with horrific head and neck injuries.


A 64-year-old man was arrested at the house and taken to the local police station where he spent the night being questioned by police.

He has since been charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The 64-year-old was remanded in custody overnight and due to appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court today.

The relationship between the two men is not known.
