Man fights for life after family fued escalates into brutal beating outside NSW motel
A MAN who allegedly attacked his brother-in-law with a pick-axe at a motel near Liverpool overnight is fighting for his life in hospital after being bashed with a baseball bat by a stranger who intervened from a nearby room.
Details remain sketchy, however according to NSW Police, officers were called to a motel on the Hume Highway at Warwick Farm just before 10pm by a man who claimed he’d been hit in the head with a pick-axe by his 34-year-old brother-in-law.
After the initial attack, it’s alleged the 34-year-old man then poured petrol over the door and floor of the motel room before dousing a 36-year-old man, from a nearby room, who tried intervening after hearing the commotion.
Police say the 36-year-old retaliated by brutally beating the 34-year-old man to the ground with a baseball bat before fleeing the scene.
Paramedics were called to treat the 34-year-old who was missing several teeth and suffering from multiple serious injuries including a broken jaw and a broken arm.
He was rushed to Liverpool District Hospital where police say he remains in a critical condition.
