Man fights for life after M1 crash

A MAN is fighting for life after a serious accident on the M1 at Oxenford.

The 33-year-old was driving his station wagon north along the Highway around 9pm last night when it veered to the left and crossed the northbound on-ramp at Exit 57.

Police say the wagon then collided with a guardrail causing it to leave the road, colliding with a fence in a ditch area between the M1 and Heathwood Drive, where it finally stopped.

The driver, who was in the car alone, suffered critical injuries and was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital.

Investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit will continue into the crash.
