Man fined $4K after crashing truck into Qld border barrier

A man’s been slapped with a massive fine after crashing into the Queensland border barrier with a truck.

Nine reports that it happened at the barrier along Dixon Street yesterday, causing the semi-trailer to get stuck on the pavement.

The 53-year-old from Queensland had reportedly popped over the border to see friends in New South Wales.

However, when he tried to cross back into Queensland, he was denied entry several times because he didn’t have the right pass.

He’s now been handed a $4,000 fine for failing to comply with a Covid direction.

It’s understood he’s also been given a traffic infringement fine.

It comes as the border bubble changes again overnight, after a new Covid case popped up in Lismore.
