Man’s finger sliced off, arms and legs slashed in NSW knife attack

A young man has had his finger sliced off and his arms and legs slashed in a frenzied knife attack in Lake Macquarie.

Emergency services were called to a home on Oxford Street in Gateshead at around 1.30pm on Thursday following reports that a man had been stabbed.

On arrival, police found a 25-year-old man with a severed finger and several lacerations to his arms and legs.


He was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment.

Detectives have launched an investigation into the attack and are appealing for anyone with any information to contact Belmont Police Station on 02 4922 8799.
