Man forced to pay thousands for a bottle of wine he accidently ordered at a restaurant
A MAN has had to fork out thousands of dollars for a bottle of wine, after accidentally ordering it whilst dining at a steakhouse in New Jersey.
Joe Lentini was having dinner with friends at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City when he asked the waitress for a wine recommendation.
“She pointed to a bottle on the menu. I didn’t have my glasses. I asked how much and she said, ‘Thirty-seven fifty’,” Mr Lentini told NJ.com.
The bottle of wine the waitress had selected was a 2011 bottle of Screaming Eagle from Oakville which cost $3750.
Mr Lentini and his friends tried to negotiate the bill with the restaurant but were forced to pay $2200.
The wine wasn’t even that memorable according to Mr Lentini: “It wasn’t great. It wasn’t terrible. It was fine.”
