Man found dead at crash scene

A MAN has been found dead at the scene of a crash in the NSW Hunter Valley.

It’s understood a passerby found the man’s Ford Falcon sedan crashed on the side of Cullingral Road at Merriwa around 1.30am on Saturday.

Police said the driver, a 34-year-old man, had died at the scene.

It was not immediately known what time the crash occurred.

Officers from the Hunter Valley Police District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.

They are appealing for anyone who saw the car prior to the crash to come forward.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Eight people have been killed in six separate accidents in NSW in the 35 hours from 12am on Friday to 11am on Saturday.
