UPDATE at 2:35 PM | A MAN found dead in a Gold Coast home was reportedly found slumped in a reclining chair and covered in blood following a brutal death.
The man, believed to be aged in his 30s, was found with horrific head and facial injuries in a house on Markwell Avenue in Surfers Paradise shortly after 5pm on Friday.
Police found the man’s bloodied body slumped in a ‘La-Z-Boy’ chair in the lounge room, with initial investigations suggesting he may have been bludgeoned to death.

Speaking to reporters at the scene, Queensland Police Senior Sergeant Brett Macgibbon said officers made the chilling discovery after peering through a window while trying to gain entry to the property.
“[the officers] have been able to see through a window and see what appeared to be a person unresponsive and seated on what is described as like a La-Z-Boy-type chair in the lounge,” he said.
“They have entered the address and have found the male unfortunately to be deceased.
“It appears that he has suffered some sort of facial injuries.”
It is not know who called police to the home.
Homicide detectives are investigating the suspicious death and are appealing for anyone who is connected with the address or may have information that could assist with the investigation to come forward.
Police and detectives spent the night combing the home for clues and door knocking neighbours.
They remained at the property on Saturday morning, examining the scene and checking nearby CCTV cameras.
Photos from the scene show the front yard of the Markwell Ave home littered with furniture, junk, and children’s toys.
Speaking with News Corp, one neighbour said the home had been “a house of horrors for months”.
“You’ve never heard such violence, such screaming,” he said. “I’ve been waiting for something like this to happen.”
It’s understood a woman and a young girl who had reportedly been living at the property haven’t been seen for weeks, while a young man who had recently moved in was often heard arguing with the now deceased man.
A major crime scene remains in place at the home, with police pleading for anyone with information to come forward.
