Man found dead in Sydney apartment hallway after alleged fight

Police are trying to piece together what led to a man dying in the hallway of an apartment complex in Sydney in the early hours of this morning.

Officers were called to a complex on Castlereagh Street in Haymarket just after 3.15am, after neighbours found the man lying unconscious in a hallway on the 13th floor.

Witnesses had been performing CPR on the 43-year-old before police arrived, however, sadly, the man was unable to be revived and died at the scene.

“Police have been told the man was found critically injured after a fight was heard in the hallway,” NSW Police said.

A 20-year-old man was arrested nearby and has been taken to Day Street Police Station, however no charges have been laid.

A crime scene has been established and detectives are reviewing CCTV in a bid to work out what happened.
