20-year-old Akaash Narayan fled the scene but was arrested several hours later in nearby Northumberland St.

Police allege the pair got into an argument around 10.30pm on Christmas night before Narayan retrieved the nail gun from his car and shot his stepmother at close range.

Narayan fronted Parramatta Court this morning charged with wounding with intent to murder.

He did not apply for bail and it was formally refused.

He’ll remain behind bars and will appear in Fairfield Local Court via videolink on March 7.
