Man glassed in the face on dance floor of Gold Coast nightclub

A MAN has been arrested and charged after he allegedly smashed a glass in the face of a man who had accidentally bumped into him on the dance floor of a Gold Coast nightclub.

Police said the two men were inside the Albert Avenue club in Broadbeach around 2.20am when they bumped into each other on the dance floor.

An altercation broke out, during which it’s alleged the accused struck the victim in the face while holding a glass.

The 29-year-old victim from Loganholme was left with a large laceration to the left side of his face. He was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.

His alleged attacker, a 25-year-old man from Coorparoo was arrested and has since been charged with one count of wounding in a public place while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance.

He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Friday 9 January.
